ABOUT MY ARTWORK:

Vetta specializes in Calligraphy & Painted Illumination in Hebrew, English & Yiddish. She works within a traditional aesthetic and with a creative approach, and is inspired by the mystical quality of Hebrew Letters, and the beauty and meaning of Hebrew, English & Yiddish texts, which she interprets and illuminates with ink, paint and gold leaf.

Vetta’s work includes paintings, Ketubot – marriage contracts, illuminated names, poems, quotations, bar and bat mitzvah texts, memorial texts, illuminated paintings & books, invitations and certificates.

Vetta has exhibited widely, including at the British Library, the Museum of London and the Jewish Museum – including the Magic & Mysticism exhibition and the Judaica 2000 exhibition.

She was commissioned to do the Hebrew Calligraphy for the Faith Zone of the Millennium Dome, and facilitates arts and calligraphy workshops for interfaith organizations. She believes that learning about each other’s arts, lettering and texts can play a role in interfaith and intercultural understanding.

Her work is in private and communal collections in the UK, USA, Israel and Australia. She is a member of the Crafts Council National Register of Makers.

Vetta’s artwork in other media also includes mosaics, patchworks, knitted textiles and paintings on silk. This work is inspired by a range of sources, including natural forms, tile patterns, texts and the sea and the sky.
